I think beyond how it looks
Obviously I want it to look good, but it needs to actually work too. I think about who’s looking at it, what they need to know and what we want them to do next.
Freelance graphic designer
Freelance graphic and web designer from Teesside, designing for businesses across the UK.

Before I knew graphic design was even a job, I used to design PowerPoints on the family computer on a variety of different subjects. Think early 2000s Word Art, crazy page transitions and animations. Whilst studying interactive media at college, I realised... oh sh*t, I can do this as a job? From there I did graphic design at Teesside University, worked for a small business, worked for several web agencies and now we’re here... full time freelance girly!
Good question!
You could ask AI. You could ask another designer. So what do I actually bring to the table?

Websites, digital, social, print. I do a bit of everything! It also means I can look at everything together rather than just one design on its own.
No middleman. You tell me what you need, I design it and we go from there. Send me your ideas, feedback or even a terrible sketch of what you mean. I honestly don’t mind.
If I think there’s a better way of doing something, I’ll tell you. I’m not going to agree with something just for the sake of it. You’re paying me for my experience too!

I've always been fascinated by psychology and why our brains react to certain things. Why yellow? Why blue? Why rounded? Why does one thing catch your eye and another doesn't? It's something I think designers should actually understand, rather than just making something look pretty. It affects so many little decisions. What needs to stand out first, how much information someone sees at once, whether something is easy to read and where you naturally expect to find things. I got VERY into this at university too. My dissertation was about the ethical implications of essentially 'brainwashing' consumers through design.
I’ll tell you, it’s as easy as:
I’ll get to know you, your brand, your vision and what you actually need from the project. We’ll see what’s working, what isn’t and where you want to go.
I’ll get to work on the design and share it with you for feedback. You’ll have a chance to see how it’s coming together and tell me what needs adjusting.
I’ll make the agreed changes, check the details and send over the finished files in the formats you need.
